The packing list

Okay, so what I pack is going to be very important for my touring job. I need to pack things that are office related, clothes related, hygiene related, fun related, pastime related, etc. So I figured I would start my packing list here, and get the feedback from all of you. I am much more likely to realize I am missing something with several sets of eyes looking over it. But I really have to be careful not to over pack, so if you see something I shouldn't pack, shout that out, too. Here we go:

  1. A TIMEPIECE, other than your cellphone

  2. sunscreen, robe, PJs, first aid (or maybe your stage-mgmt kit, DigiMemo (plenty of time on bus to learn to use it). consider finding a used bookstore so when you finish a book you can just pass it on to someone else or leave it for others to "adopt," camera.

  3. Also--please call PNC and let them know you will be traveling. Otherwise, they might assume your card has been stolen and deny charges. (This happens ALL the time!) It has happened to Roger and me traveling abroad! You may also wish to ask them to increase your daily purchase/withdrawal limit to, say, $1000 in case, God forbid, you get sick or something and need to purchase a last-minute air ticket. (The voice of experience speaks again!)

  4. You might want to consider bringing some stamps. I'm old fashioned, so I'd bring stationery, but if you were going to write a note you'd probably use paper from your legal pad, and you would only have to bring envelopes. (Another thought would be to bring post card stamps and buy and send cards as you travel.) Sometimes a letter or card is more private and special than a blog.)

Also, I assume that instead of packing feminine products you'll buy them along the line as you need them.

    Don't forget sunglasses.

  5. Maybe some or most of your hotels will have gym facilities--do you need shorts or anything special to work out at gym?

Hallejah! I finally figured out how to link to my Google profile so my photo shows up, etc.

  6. i think I have enough work out clothes (I am curious what the laundry situation will be). What I am wondering is should i travel with my own scale? I just want to make sure I have everything Ineed to keep going.

  7. Yeah, I think you should bring the scale, but you may lose some accuracy since it will be on different types of flooring, maybe some not so level, etc., so there may be more variability in the measurements. The point is not to get discouraged if you go up a pound or two one day. It might be an erroneous measuremtn.

Another suggestion: carry along the little cooler I left for you. Save a lot of money on Diet Coke, plus you could pick up fruit and salad stuff along the way to keep eating right. If it is too much trouble or takes too much space, you can just toss it.

  8. Also, in November it is going to get cold--what about a coat and maybe gloves/hat? hard to think about in the summer in LA, I am sure!!!
