In the Mood: Spring 2010 Part I

Hi All,

So first off, I know that I am already a huge slacker when it comes to posting. Please feel free to visit this link: to see where I have been and where I am going. This google map is a new innovation of mine for our tour to help everyone keep track of what the heck is going on.

It's amazing how much I missed being on the road between November 9 and January 26. Don't get me wrong, I was absolutely exhausted through most of the break... simply recovering from over-working (which isn't a good sign as I do not work nearly as hard as those people I look up to). But really, the hardest thing about being off the road was being away from Brian. Most of you don't know me as the dating type, but man on man, am I head over heels these days or what. In many ways I've never been happier, but being apart was one of the worst things I've ever experienced. Luckily he flew me to Utica to visit in December as my Christmas present, and he stopped in Silver Spring, MD a week before tour started to pick up the drum kit so we got to see each other on our 3 month anniversary (I guess that just outed me as a total dating dork). Yes, we have said the "L" word to one another, and we are still going strong.

Now let us see what I can recall...

Tuesday, January 26: Harper's Ferry, WV to Coeur d'Alene, ID
Thanks to a well timed flight combination, I really didn't have to get up too early to fly out on Tuesday, and I didn't arrive too late in Spokane, WA either. Packing, as last leg, was a team effort. My mom helped me get all my laundry done and sorted out. Its a very delicate balance deciding what to bring, what to leave behind, and making sure that neither of my suitcases weighed in at over 50 lbs (thankfully my mom has an amazing luggage scale).

I left out of Washington Dulles International Airport at 1:00 PM. The only other company member on my flight was Eric Harper, the new bass player. I remember getting an Auntie Anne's pretzel, buying a book I have yet to start reading, and probably found several other ways to spend the money I hadn't started earning yet.

I had moved my seat on the plane so I was no longer sitting next to Eric, not that he's not an awesome person to talk to, but just that I didn't want to spend 4 hours in a middle seat. I hope he didn't take that the wrong way, but if he did... his loss... because my new seat allowed me to have 6 seats to myself. It was like a low class first class experience. :)

The layover in Denver was perfect. The entire company met up there (the cast, Eric, Bud, and I).

Wednesday, January 27: Coeur d'Alene, ID
Rehearsal day with just the cast, Eric, and Bud. I spent all day sitting in the house of the theater watching load-in and just getting my business taken care of. (I had already started taking care of a lot of things before I went out there, so the ball was already rolling quite well for me).

I find working in the same room as Brian very distracting, so I try to keep to myself. It's very hard to have a personal life that is totally separate from professional life on tour because you are working ALL OF THE TIME.

That night the band arrived but I did not stay up to see them.

Thursday, January 28: Coeur d'Alene, ID
Tech day with the full band.

Friday, January 29: Coeur d'Alene, ID
Opening night! The show has looked better, but truly it was not that bad.

Saturday, January 30: Ellensburg, WA
My birthday!
